President’s Day holiday!

i realize that the sound of field recordings in nature is actually very seductive, and affective. was listening to Joe Anderson’s Pacific Slope today and there was a part that was rain – not real rain, but strips of paper granularized and subject to ATK manipulation.

then i was listening to Gordon Hempton’s Forest Rain – http://onesquareinch.org/breathing-space/

recordings in the Olympic Nature Park and i could’ve sworn the temperature around me drop as i was listening to it.

the ears have such a way of priming all other senses that these sounds create illusionary experiences for the whole body.

we also listened to quite a bit of Trevor Wishart over the week.  sounds of ‘Red Bird-  a political prisoner’s dream”
